For Israel, Palm Sunday turns out to be one big misunderstanding. The Jesus they wanted wasn’t the real Jesus; and in just a few days their whole faith will be rocked to the core. Christ will, in the end, be a huge let down and disappointment for these crowds who are so enthusiastically praising Him today. If we aren’t careful, we modern day Christians can fall into the same trap of trying to make Jesus who we want Him to be, rather than wanting Him for who He really is. Like the people of Israel on Palm Sunday two-thousand years ago, Passion Week can turn out to be one big misunderstanding for us if we discover that Jesus Christ came for totally different reasons than what we wanted from Him.
